Urlacher has knee surgery, expected to play in opener

Urlacher had a procedure done early Tuesday to reduce persistent swelling that has combined with soreness to keep him from practicing since July 31. The problem is the result of an injury late in the Jan. 1 win at Minnesota, has left some question as to why the knee was not investigated earlier, but has not raised concern among his partners on defense.

Coaches and players alike are saying the same thing - it’s not bothering them that he did it.  Here’s hoping 54 is good to go after his recovery.
